The school began in September 1990 in a temporary site. After two years, the staff and students moved into the permanent building. As part of the Dufferin Peel portable replacement plan, the school received a three floor, twenty-two room addition. The project was completed in June of 2001. Semiahmoo Secondary School is a public high school in Surrey, British Columbia and is part of School District 36 Surrey. Founded in 1940 as the first senior secondary school in South Surrey, Semiahmoo spans Grades 8 through 12. The school currently has a student population of 1481 and a faculty of 96, and is headed by Principal Claudine Bunyan. Semiahmoo is one of three public high schools on the peninsula, along with Earl Marriott Secondary School to the southeast, and Elgin Park Secondary School to the northwest.

Seaquam Secondary School opened on September 6, 1977. The original teaching staff of thirty-seven increased in September, 1977 to forty-one because one hundred more students enrolled than expected. In the initial year, the school enrolled six hundred thirty-three students in grades 7 to 11. Then grade 12 was added, and grade 7 was dropped to create our present 8-12 configuration. It is interesting to note that some of the teaching staff remain from the original group.

Salisbury Composite High School has a proud tradition of excellence which began in 1953. In June of 1954, ten teachers organized the first Grad for 27 students. In the Fall of 1969, "Salisbury" became Salisbury Composite High School with a move to the present location in Sherwood Park and the opening of our vocational department.
